About working with Great Adventures Therapy in Knoxville, TN
Billing & Insurance
Great Adventures Therapy is an in-network provider with most commercial and Medicaid insurance plans and their third-party administrators*, including: Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, UMR, Cigna, Ambetter, WellPoint, and more!
If you do not have insurance coverage and wish to pay for services, we can set this up easily for you! We accept credit, debit, FSA/HSA cards, and Katie Beckett cards. Per company policy, we do require a card on file for all active patients, regardless of insurance status.
*While we may be in-network with your insurance, that doesn't mean services are fully covered. We can confirm whether we're in-network, but we can't guarantee coverage. Each plan has its own deductible, co-pay, and co-insurance requirements, and we encourage all families to contact their insurance provider before starting services to understand their benefits.

Early Intervention Through TEIS
If your family is enrolled with Tennessee Early Intervention Systems (TEIS), we ask that you speak with your Service Coordinator about therapy services with Great Adventures Therapy. We will work directly with you and your Coordinator to make this process simple.
-
Yes, we happily partner with TEIS, serving children ages birth to five in Tennessee. Be sure to speak with your Service Coordinator prior to scheduling an initial appointment to ensure covered services.
-
Yes, an evaluation is required before starting services. This allows us to know where your child is in their learning journey and determine goals for weekly therapy visits. We do accept outside evaluations on a case-by-case basis, as long as it was completed within the past year. If your child has a recent evaluation, please let us know, and we can determine next steps.
-
Our clinic serves children from birth to 18 years old.
-
No, you do not need a referral to get started with services, but it makes the process a little easier! If your doctor is not sending an order for therapy, our clinic will fax a request for one, along with a copy of our evaluation report as a courtesy for their records.
-
We require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations, regardless of reason. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in a cancellation fee. This policy helps ensure consistency in therapy and respects the time reserved for each patient.
-
Charges are incurred the day services are completed. Our clinic runs payment following insurance claim finalization. Due to insurance claim processing time and our biller's processing schedule, there may be a delay between the day service was completed and when charges are run through our system. Your invoices are able to be viewed on the patient portal, so you can see exactly what was charged on the date payment is completed. If you have questions about this process, please call our clinic.
-
We do! While we conduct most of our therapy sessions in our outpatient clinic, we are able to offer teletherapy appointments on a case-by-case basis. Please talk with us to determine if this is a good fit for your child.
-
Our play-based therapy approach follows your child’s interests and motivations. Speech and language goals are woven into activities they enjoy, such as games, toys, music, and movement. By learning through meaningful play experiences, children are more engaged in therapy and better able to use their new skills in everyday situations, which is the ultimate goal!
-
Yes! We ask that you bring food to each session. We want to work on foods served in your home and practice carryover into your child's daily environment, while also preventing any accidental exposures to allergens or offering foods that do not align with family dietary preferences.
-
Yes, we DO work with babies! We have specific training in lactation and oral tissues, along with oral motor training as part of our degrees. This makes us a perfect fit to address feeding issues! We collaborate with Lactation, PT/OT, Chiropractors, and/or pediatric dentists to provide the best care for your child during such a special time.
